THE PROBLEM LENZ SOLVES

IT, security, and compliance teams need one working view, not more portals.

A Microsoft 365 question often starts simply: what changed, what is exposed, and what should we do next? The answer is usually spread across Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 services, with scripts and one-off exports filling the gaps.

01

The question starts in one place

What teams face
Data is scattered across six or more admin portals, each with its own reporting surface.
What it means
A simple question can take 30 or more minutes of portal navigation.
02

The answer needs context

What teams face
Most portals show current state only and do not retain enough history.
What it means
It is difficult to explain when a change happened and who made it.
03

The work becomes dependent on a specialist

What teams face
Cross-workload and historical questions have to be scripted in PowerShell.
What it means
Reporting depends on one person's scripts and cannot be delegated easily.
04

Evidence is assembled after the fact

What teams face
Exports are manual and produced from whatever a portal shows that day.
What it means
Compliance evidence is inconsistent and difficult to reproduce.
05

Small changes can become long-running risks

What teams face
There is no baseline to compare against over time.
What it means
Security regressions can go unnoticed for weeks.
06

The people who need answers may lack access

What teams face
Giving someone reporting rights usually means giving them portal roles.
What it means
Auditors and managers are either over-privileged or dependent on IT.

THE CLEARER WORKING VIEW

Now the team can see the whole story in one place.

Lenz connects the signals across Microsoft 365 and turns them into a posture score, prioritized findings, and evidence behind each decision.

Instead of asking someone to search six portals, the team can start with what changed, understand why it matters, and agree on the next action.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What teams ask before connecting Lenz.

Does Lenz make changes to our Microsoft 365 tenant?

No. Lenz is read-only by design. It requests read permissions and has no product code path that writes to Microsoft 365.

How does Lenz connect to Microsoft 365?

Your administrator creates a single-tenant Entra ID application registration and grants the required application permissions. Lenz uses certificate-backed, application-only authentication, never a signed-in user's delegated access.

Do we have to grant every permission at once?

No. If a permission is withheld, only the reports that depend on it remain empty. The rest of the catalogue continues to collect and display data, so access can be widened gradually.

How long does onboarding take?

Plan for approximately one hour of active setup work. The first full collection usually takes 20 to 40 minutes, with later collection cycles running automatically on their configured schedules.

What Microsoft 365 data does Lenz store?

Lenz stores reporting metadata such as identities, permissions, sharing state, activity timestamps, and message routing details. It does not collect message bodies or file contents. Customer data is isolated.

Can compliance teams use Lenz without Microsoft 365 admin access?

Yes. A Company Viewer account can provide read-only access to reporting data without granting the person an administrative role in Microsoft Entra ID or the ability to change the tenant.
